Once Again, It’s About Associations and Judgment
Frank Salvato, Managing Editor, The New Media Journal
There has been much ado about Barack Obama’s associations and the judgment used in maintaining and entering into those associations. Obama’s associations with Jeremiah Wright, Williams Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis, the Progressive-Left activist group ACORN and his ideological association with Saul Alinsky are all perfect examples of his judgment, his willingness to associate with radical and troubled individuals and organizations. Is it fair to judge Barack Obama by his associations and the judgment used in acquiring and maintaining those associations? Sorry Mr. Colmes, all is fair in love and war...and politics.Direct Election v. Electoral College
NancySalvato Senior Editor, The New Media Journal
The constitutional amendment process is a complicated and lengthy affair. This is because we cannot be certain what consequences might arise from a seemingly minor alteration of the Constitution. To be sure, exchanging the electoral-vote system for direct election would adversely impact the entire constitutional and political structure of the United States.

I Hope The Supremes Are Happy
Bob Parks, Black & Right
With yet another probable rape/murder of a young girl in Vermont, I hope the liberal members of the Supreme Court who voted to spare child rapists of the death penalty slept well last night. I'm sorry, but should I win my state legislative race this fall, I plan on testing that decision again by introducing a "one strike, your dead" bill that would put child rapists/murderers away for life the first time they victimize a child. The time for compassion and mercy is over.Mr. Obama: Don't Betray My People
Amil Imani, American Thinker
It looks like Mr. Obama may well be the next resident of the White House. It also looks like my people are going to be betrayed once again by a badly misguided American president. Jimmy Carter helped give birth to the virulent Shiite Islamism by forbidding the Shah of Iran to crush the bloodthirsty Ayatollah Khomeini and his band of rabid Islamists. Now, Mr. Obama intends to confer legitimacy on the illegitimate child, the Islamic Republic of Iran.Manifold Dangers of a Liberal Supreme Court
Christopher G. Adamo, GOPUSA
As far back as Sun Tzu, military strategists have well understood the concept that victory in war does not require the destruction of one's enemy, but merely convincing that enemy that destruction is inevitable if the fight continues. Similarly, in a dictatorship, absolute control is neither necessary nor, in most cases, even possible. All that is needed for the dictator to endure is the presumption among the underlings that the leader does indeed hold a monopoly of power.Cold War Amnesia
Malcolm A. Kline, Accuracy in Media
The Cold War between the United States and the former Soviet Union is still being fought, not by unrepentant, unreconstructed anti-communists such as your servant but by campus leftists born too late to be collaborators. “In last month’s undergraduate elections, a cadre of demagogues, in a disgusting publicity stunt, projected the image of a hammer and sickle onto one of Stanford’s most venerable landmarks: Hoover Tower,” Jason Dunkel, the business manager of the Stanford Review writes in a June 2008 fundraising letter. “Their platform called for the detainment of such ‘criminals’ as Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice as well as the banning of ‘unfriendly corporations [from] campus unless they withdrawal [sic] their lobbyists’ from Washington.”The Putrid Perfumed Prince
David Jeffers, The New Media Journal
Barack Obama claims to not want to question anyone’s patriotism but Wesley Clark’s putrid performance on CBS’ Face the Nation this past Sunday leaves one wondering. Senator Obama should have immediately denounced General Clark’s despicable analysis of Senator McCain’s qualifications. Instead he goes to Independence, Missouri to redefine the word patriotism. I guess that’s the real "change" Obama is bringing.Greg C. Reeson, The New Media Journal
Iran Pays Attention to Strength, Not Weakness
As the November presidential election draws near, the issue of Iran’s nuclear program will undoubtedly be thrust to the forefront of the candidates’ debate. Senator Obama has advocated direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without any preconditions whatsoever. Senator McCain has rejected that idea, instead choosing to focus on continued diplomatic efforts and economic sanctions backed by the threat of military force as a last resort. No matter which candidate is elected this fall, the new president will be faced with the same two basic options currently on the table for dealing with Iran: continued diplomatic efforts coupled with economic sanctions, or the use of military force. What is needed, though, is a new option that strengthens the U.S. position, gives Iran reason to pause, and provides an impetus for Tehran to get serious about resolving its impasse with the West.Vincent G. Gioia, The New Media Journal
Is American Law Now Determined by One Man?
Thanks to the flappable Justice Anthony Kennedy the Second Amendment remains in the Constitution but it is outrageous that four members of the court wanted to throw it out. Justice Antonin Scalia wrote a precisely clear opinion upholding the right of the people to keep and bear arms on an individual basis. But the ink wasn’t dry before leftists of all stripe "found" language in the opinion that will allow other judges to confirm all manner of restrictions on gun owners’ rights. Unfortunately Scalia probably had to include some of these loop holes in the opinion to placate Justice Kennedy so he would join the majority of five.Erik Rush, The New Media Journal
Upchuck City
No, this is not a review of an upcoming Spike Lee film; rather, the title of this offering is a reference to what the town of Unity, N.H. became on Friday June 27, when Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Company descended upon the microscopic New England town in an effort to convince the latter senator’s supporters to back Obama. Hence the reasoning for choosing a place with the name “Unity.” Perhaps Clinton supporters and those voters who are on the fence as regards the individual for whom who they might cast their vote saw the event as either an expected political maneuver or an exercise in magnanimity on the part of both Obama and Clinton. Others such as this columnist, who oppose both – and are not yet sufficiently numb to the effluvia of falsehoods and deceit that emanates unremittingly from the two Democrats – viewed the exercise as a transparent, vapid retch fest of the highest order.Raymond S. Kraft, The New Media Journal
Ending Our Oil Addiction: Reality Check
I have before me a nice letter from California Senator Barbara Boxer, in which she extols her sponsorship of S.3044, a bill to impose "windfall profits taxes" on Big Oil, in which she writes, "At a time when so many Americans are struggling to make ends meet and having to make the impossible choice between buying food for their families and filling up their gas tank, I am deeply disturbed that some of my colleagues [Republicans] prevented this important bill from moving forward." "Windfall profits taxes" would, of course, do nothing to increase supply, or bring down the price of gas or the price of food, which have been driven up by the Democrats' own policies of opposing oil production in America, and turning food into fuel, thereby driving up the cost of both.JB Williams, The New Media Journal
Meet Obama’s Useful Idiots
At the risk of being accused of “racism” for not falling in line behind the first half-black but wholly unqualified man ever to run for president, allow me to introduce the useful idiots at the core of Obamamania. Barack Hussein Obama, the Jim (Farrakhan) Jones of the 2008 race for the White House, and chosen Messiah of America’s loony leftist dingbats, is leading the race for the most powerful office on earth. The “How?” is the interesting part of the story...As if we have not already seen enough evidence of ill-informed political lunacy surrounding the anointment process of the chosen one, Obama useful idiots have found a new way to demonstrate their gross youthful ignorance.AJ DiCintio, The New Media Journal
Gun Rights Hanging by a Thin Thread
A few minutes after ten on the morning of June 26, the Supreme Court gave every conservative a reason to get excited, charged up, fired up, yes, even, if need be, a little wild-eyed about the coming election. Yes, with its decision in District of Columbia et al. v. Heller, the Court has completely and irreversibly extinguished the hope burning in the hearts of Democrats and their Liberal allies that Right of Center voters won’t overcome the malaise affecting them. Of course, I may be wrong. Languid conservatives may refuse to fight, refuse to become sincerely animated when they explain to their independent and moderate friends what is at stake in this election.

Quote of the Day & This Day in US History
